Murder Mystery Party:
May 2021
I created many handmade props as well as found antique items for a murder mystery party a friend of mine and I wrote from scratch. The party was set in 1924, and my goal was to make sure everyone felt like they walked into the time period. Because of this, a lot of research went into the creation of the props. After the party, I put together a booklet that overviews the storyline we put together.

I designed this driver's license based on a real 1920s drivers license in Photoshop. Then I placed the printed sticker onto thin cardboard and bent and weathered the final piece.

This design was based off a real citizenship form recreated it in Photoshop. For the character's image, I found an immigrant image and cropped the actor's face on top.

This gun was plastic and blue, so I painted it to look more realistic and found this evidence tag at Hobby Lobby.

I created a costume for my sister, then Photoshopped in the background scene and the aged photo look. Once printed, I painted the back of the photo black and weathered the overall piece.

I Photoshopped this based on an existing document. Then I printed it on specialty paper and tea-stained it. I then burned and ripped the edges.

This sketch was drawn by my brother. I scanned it into Photoshop and formatted the newspaper around it. This piece is front and back. I printed this out on blank newspaper and tea-stained it.

This was based on an actual money order of the time period. I designed it in Photoshop and printed it on green cardstock paper.

I found the actual front page of the N.Y. Times from the day after our "event" took place and removed an existing article. I then matched the headline font and placed our article and image.

This is a Photoshopped sales ledger that was printed onto old paper and made to look like it was torn from a book. The design was front and back.

I Photoshopped this Whiskey label for a custom bottle of liquor.
